Pat brought home a fantastic book from Merida that covers many aspects of adapting to a long-term life there. I read about half of it today.

We're currently trying to figure out how to arrange spending next winter there. It's been five years since we were on the verge of heading down there from California, when we instead Shangaied ourselves here on the Eastern edge of the Rockies.

Last week I ran across an article online that described the expected increase in the number of US citizens who will likely seek a life in Mexico of other Latin American destinations as they realize that (now more than ever) they have no hope of a comfortable retirement North of the Border (NOB). It may be a little stressful adapting to the different culture and being away from friends and family, but for some folks this will beat gathering carts at the MaoMart parking lot when they are 85 years old.
