Maybe this will win over some of the Prop 8 folks in California...

A little over two years ago, I placed the bank failure link on the top right side of my main page, with the illustration above to commemorate the occasion.  At the time, there had only been one recent bank failure - but I anticpated many more.  Today, I ran across the page and illustration below.  Guess my pessimism was not unwarranted.

I almost didn't get this posted while it's still Father's Day.  Here's Dad in 1949, clowning around with his Air Force enlisted buddies, in Biloxi Mississippi, about three years before I came along.

Dad always had a great sense of humor, and I like to think that this is one of the better things he shared and left me with.  Que descanses en paz, viejo chistoso...

Rhino, a pit bull mix guy, and Eve, a nice but troubled border collie mix out for some fun.

I've been accompanying Pat to the rescue shelter place to walk a few of the dogs when we hae a chance.  These poor guys live in the kennels for weeks on end, and only get out for a nice walk when a volunteer goes in to give them a little exercise.  Four of the dogs we walked this week hadn't been out for ten days.

Today when we stopped by, there were three newly arrived Catahoula Hound puppies, a couple of months old.  I really like the look and (so far) personality of these guys.  We were asked to foster all three a couple of weeks ago.  Ha!  Looks like trouble to me...one - maybe.

This ten-minute video explains a lot about how we experience our lives.

Interesting timing, as I struggle with the issue of whether to return to full-time work and relocate back to the Bay Area now.  Or later.  Also, how I am going to deal with all my deferred activities here in Fort Collins. I do NOT want to stay here (or anywhere on this side of the Continental Divide) long term, but it seems like I should finish a few things before moving on.

Went to a food fair at a local CSA farm today. SInce these events celebrate food of local origin, I was puzzled by the feature of crayfish as a prepared food booth feature. I asked where they were from - was told they were flown in from Louisiana. Huh?

When Pat and I were in California in April, we stopped by to see a couple we've been friends with for over twenty years. Erik is a senior network engineer, and he casually mentioned that his employer was allowing him to add an additional staff position (reporting to him) to join his existing team of four.

Hmm. How many times have I imagined a job opportunity back there. Moving back to the Bay Area, with its high costs, requires a job in advance. THe problem is, this scenario requires both moving into a new home of some sort (and selling the old one), and starting a new job. Eeek!

So...I expressed an interest, and he advised he would notify me when it was posted.

It WAS posted, about ten days ago, and I almost didn't go after it, but today I did, completing the laborious online process. Stay tuned...

I took three paintings into a local artists' co-op today, and helped hang a members show for the monthly gallery walk event in Old Town.

As I did this, the first time I have made an effort to show any of my work, it occured to me that getting involved in the showing and selling of paitings would probably spoil the pleasure I get from creating the work. I felt very uneasy trying to come up with prices for the paintings, wondering if I could really be compensated for the effort, and if I might rather keep the originals. I do have high-quality reproductions, but it might be hard to let go of these...

On the other hand, what if I really do relocte to Mexico or Costa Rico? What will I do with them all then?

I didn't select my best (and most recent work) for this show, instead hanging three older pieces where I was learning the materials and technicque.

The pups are all gone to their new homes now. We got really attached to the little darker-faced guy, who was with us the longest (almost two weeks). If he wasn't already adopted, we would have been tempted to make him part of our family.
