Ever yours, Vincent...

I have always been fond of Vincent van Gogh. Thrilled by the moving images he left behind, I also recall reading a book of his touching letters to brother Theo back when I was in my twenties.

Today I read that a new batch of letters had been translated and released to the public by a New York museum. In one of the letters to a fellow artist, Vincent offered the following advice:

...you have to eat well, be well housed, have a screw from time to time, smoke your pipe and drink your coffee in peace.

I knew my affection was not misplaced.
