The next entry here should be from somewhere in the Mexican state of Jalisco. We leave here around 4am tomorrow morning for the Denver airport. After a stop in Salt Lake City (the things we will do to use frequent flier miles...), we'll be on our way to Guadalajara Miguel Hidalgo Airport and a mid-day arrival.

We spent the last two nights at the ranch in Wyoming, which ended with the usual difficult goodbye to our Mdog, left in the care of Mona and Clark.

We have a lot planned for this trip, as we look at mundane things that relate to everyday life at Lake Chapala, with an eye on a months-long trial run beginning this summer. The guest-house compound where we are staying the first four days may be able to offer us a reduced monthly rate for the summer months we would be there, as it is their off-season. Most people visit the area to escape harsh or dreary climates to the North.

After the first few days we will have a rental car, and our first driving experience in Mexico. We thought we might visit a pine-forested hill village an hour from the lake, and drive to the mega-store (Home Depot, Sam's Club, Costco)complex near Guadalaja - probably a monthly routine if we lived at the lake. There are a number of people I have corresponded with that we hope to visit, to hear more about their experience as ex-pats living in the area. We also hope to drive to Cocula, to visit the parents of my friend Manuel.
